Manika Batra has reached a career high ranking of 35 in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) world rankings after a successful performance at the Asian Cup in November.
Batra won India’s first ever medal at the tournament, securing a bronze after defeating world number five Hina Hayata of Japan and world number seven Chen Xingtong of China.
The achievement earned Batra 175 points in the rankings and helped her rise three places. She also reached the semifinals of two World Table Tennis Contender events in Hungary and Slovenia.
In the men’s rankings, G Sathiyan remained in 39th place while Sharath Kamal slipped three spots to 47th.
Batra will compete in the Asian qualification event for the World Championships in Doha later this week and will also participate in the WTT Contender in Doha and the WTT Star Contender in Goa next month.
