The 24-year-old actress Angana Roy has been busy since the start of 2023, with her recent appearance in the web series, Indubala Bhaater Hotel, as Sanchari, an amateur blogger. Angana made her debut in the entertainment industry as a child artist in Tarun Majumder’s family drama, Alo, back in 2003. After receiving critical acclaim for her role in Roktokorobi, she has now moved on to playing Sanchari in Indubala Bhaater Hotel, directed by Debaloy Bhattacharya and streaming on Hoichoi.
In the web series, Sanchari is a 19-year-old girl who moves from Krishnanagar to Kolkata to pursue her career as a blogger. She meets Indubala, a 75-year-old woman played by Subhashree Ganguly, who runs her eatery in Kolkata since her move from across the border. Sanchari and Indubala develop a strong bond, which remains unaffected by their age gap, and they grow to become each other’s confidantes. Subhashree Ganguly’s role is one of her most challenging ones, and Angana is all praises for her co-star.
Angana’s last year’s work includes being a part of the ensemble cast in the latest web adaptation of Srikanto and starring in Anupam Roy’s music video, Ga Chhunye Bolchhi. Her performance as Meghla in Roktokorobi was highly appreciated, and she admits that playing the character required a lot of preparation. Angana also learned how to process trauma and perform the crying scenes differently each time from writer Sahana Dutta.
Currently shooting for another Hoichoi web series, Khela Ghor, Angana is all set to begin working on her next project, Pariah, opposite Vikram Chatterjee. The movie is centered around the racket of missing street dogs, and Angana’s character Kamalini is a dog lover. She is excited to collaborate with Tathagata Mukherjee, the director, as he takes a lot of time and care to build his world, and she is eager to see how the creative process unfolds.
